1. Introduction

Kyle is a markdown editor developed by InstantContext ("we", "us", or "our"). Kyle connects to AI applications through MCP (Model Context Protocol), allowing your AI to read, create, and update notes on your behalf. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use Kyle.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you first open Kyle, an account is created automatically using a unique device-generated API key. No personal information is required to start using Kyle. If you choose to verify your email address, we store that email to enable account recovery and communication.

Notes and Content

We store the notes (artifacts), tags, and metadata you create through Kyle. This content is stored on our servers to enable sync between the app and your connected AI clients. A copy is also cached on your device for offline access.

AI Access

When you connect an AI client via your MCP URL, that AI can read, create, update, and search your notes. We do not read, analyze, or train on the content of your notes. Your MCP URL functions as a private access key — we recommend treating it like a password.

Purchase Information

If you subscribe to Kyle Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a transaction receipt to verify your subscription status but do not have access to your payment details.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide the Kyle service — storing, syncing, and serving your notes
To authenticate your account and connected AI clients
To verify subscription status for Kyle Pro features
To send account-related emails (verification codes, account recovery) if you provide an email address
To enforce usage limits (daily note creation, note size)

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Your API key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. Communication between the app, AI clients, and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Sensitive operations (email changes, account deletion) are protected by App Attest device verification.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or note content with third parties. Your notes are accessible only to you and the AI clients you explicitly connect via your MCP URL.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your notes and account data are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual notes at any time from within the app. You can delete your entire account and all associated data from Settings. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

7. Children's Privacy

Kyle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
